Home Maintenance & Repair

The Home Maintenance and Repair program is the first initiative created by the organization.
By utilizing hours and hours of volunteer labor, BRI is able to contain the costs of expensive repairs, and offer senior and disabled homeowners an affordable option to commercial contractors.

The projects most frequently requested by seniors are electrical, heating, and plumbing repairs. Disabled homeowners most often request construction of a wheelchair ramp, retrofitting the bathroom and widening doorways. In 2006, we served 465 homeowners under this program:

• 272 ramp construction and bath remodels (medical modifications)
• 59 plumbing, heating and electrical
• 46 roof repairs/replacements
• 36 windows/doors repairs/replacements
• 74 miscellaneous repairs
• 122 telephone inquiries

As a result of this program, Brothers Redevelopment
in 2006 saved clients a collective $189,754.
